“THE OFFER is may favorite Karina Halle book in a while!”
~ Under the Covers
If you remember at the end of THE PACT we learn about Linden’s brother, Bram. He’s the older brother, but he’s also the wild one. He’s been blowing through family money in New York, doing everything to excess and not having any responsibilities. This is his story. And I was immediately sold because….well it must be that Scottish brogue.
Bram has been living in San Francisco near his brother for a while now. He’s been for all intents and purposes cleaning up his act. At Linden’s wedding, Bram decides to act on his attraction to Steph’s best friend Nicola and proposes one night of sex. Nicola knows the type of man Bram is, the playboy kind. She doesn’t need that in her life, she’s a mother trying to get ahead in the world for herself and her daughter. Trying to pursue her passion. And the heartbreak that comes with someone like Bram does not fit in.
Fast forward a few months, and Nicola is down on her luck and Bram might be the one ticket she needs to stay afloat and not drown in her problems. She has to accept Bram’s help for a place to live until she gets back on her feet. But having Bram that close proves more than her defenses can fend off.
I loved Bram a hell of a lot. He’s a changed man, he’s trying to do good and trying to be successful. Turning his life around completely, but still dealing with the stigma of the image others have of him. He does not go around fighting his feelings all the time, and for that I can’t be more thankful. He wants something, he feels something, he goes with the flow. He wants Nicola, then he’s going to be fully into her. He makes no qualms about it and doesn’t try to disguise things or downplay things. My favorite kind of hero! He’s also fun and adores her kid. So I mean, lots of brownie points to him. 😉
Nicola was the character I struggled a bit with in this one. I liked her good enough, but I wouldn’t say I agreed with some of her decisions. They just didn’t make sense to me sometimes.
THE OFFER is may favorite Karina Halle book in a while! I love that she wrote an older couple than she’s known for. Specially a heroine with a kid at that! There’s a whole new set of rules and responsibilities she’s had to incorporate in this story that I’m not used to seeing in her books, and I completely enjoyed that.

This is a like not love as well Timitra. But I think it’s enjoyable enough. Let me know what you think if you get a chance to read it.
I will!
Oh good I was hoping this was going to be better!
I am in need of some more mature characters desperately lol so it was nice and refreshing to see that change.
