What’s the last book that kept you up all night reading under the covers?
The last book that kept me up all night reading … Katy Regnery’s Never Let You Go.
Wow. This isn’t a book easily read or summarized. Typically I like a hot romance. I admit I enjoy an easy read. Never Let You Go is anything but that. Picture a modern day Hansel and Gretel, which is exactly what this story is … with more love, more angst, more pain than any two people deserve. Generally not my cup of tea in reading.
And yet … and yet … I trust the author, having read her other books. I was curious. So I dove in with a lot of trepidation. My stomach hurt from page one. Two young foster children in a sad situation who bond … and are then kidnapped together. The bond they form is unbreakable. You have to read it to understand. Then Holden thinks Griselda has died … and visa versa. They are separated for years. Neither ever forgetting the other.
Then the reunion … also painful, also bliss. Utter bliss. Until you realize you are at 50 % of the story … and there is 50% left. Happily ever after can’t go on for another 50 % … so your gut tells you more sadness and tragedy is coming.
I had to do something I have never done. I turned to Goodreads and Amazon spoilers – because if I didn’t know that I could make it through the last 50% I couldn’t read on. I found a review that mirrored my feelings … and that reassured me I should and could handle the rest. If I’m vague, it’s intentional because I don’t want to ruin story for anyone.
Suffice to say this is a book and characters that stay with you for a long, long time. A tough read? Yes. But a very worthwhile one!

Avery Dare lives a quiet life in Miami as an online fashion/makeup video blogger. She has good friends, a close, large family and if her love life is lacking, she likes it that way. But when she receives an invitation to one of her ex's concerts along with an invitation to meet him back stage, she decides to take the risk… and comes face to face with the reality of his rock star lifestyle - the press, the crowds, and the half naked groupies.
At eighteen, Grey Kingston left everything he knew and loved behind to seek fame and fortune as a rock star, and he found it as the lead guitarist and singer for the band, Tangled Royal. Fans adore him, women throw themselves at him, and he can afford everything he couldn’t growing up. Yet at the height of his career, he’s ready to walk away and return home to a simpler life… and the woman he left behind, if he can convince her to give him another chance.
Except moving on isn’t as easy as Grey would like. When Avery is threatened by a stalker, it becomes evident Grey’s fans not only don’t want him to retire, they don’t want Avery in his life either. And Avery isn’t sure she wants the pressures that are part of Grey’s life… but she doesn’t want to lose him again, either. Can their recently renewed love survive the fallout?
But Meg’s future is one Scott has accepted he’ll never have, even if his growing feelings say otherwise …
