What’s the Last Book That Kept You Up All Night Reading Under the Covers?

I’d heard so many good things about THE GIRL IN 6E by A. R. Torre, but it wasn’t until recently that I was able to sit down and read it. And once I started, I couldn’t stop. Fortunately, I’m an insomniac, so it wasn’t a big deal for me to stay up until nearly 2am!

When I’m not writing, I’m reading, and when I’m not reading romance, I’m reading thrillers. THE GRIL IN 6E, while not a romance, does have a romantic sliver running through it. It’s more of a thriller, but I don’t think it fits entirely in that genre either.

The first thing I noticed was the author wrote in first person present. Now, if you know me, you know I DETEST first person present. I’ve only read one series written this way that I enjoyed (THE HUNGER GAMES SERIES). But I was happy to discover the POV and tense choice didn’t distract me.  In fact, I can’t imagine it being told any other way.

The story centers around Deanna Madden, a webcam sex worker who has locked herself in her apartment so she doesn’t kill anyone. She’s set herself up so that everything she needs is delivered to her door and when the book opens, she hasn’t been outside in over three years.

Things get interesting when she realizes one of her customers is a pedophile and has kidnapped his niece. No one will listen to her, so she decides to take things into her own hands.

I don’t want to say too much and give things away, but trust me, this book is excellent. It’s also the first in a series, so it looks like there will be many more Deanna Madden books to come. And that makes me happy.

A.R. Torre also write erotic romance under the name Alessandra Torre. Guess what’s up next on my Kindle?

About Tara Sue Me

Tara Sue Me wrote her first novel at the age of twelve. It would be twenty years before she picked up her pen to write the second.

After completing several clean romances, she decided to try her hand at something spicier and started The Submissive. What began as a writing exercise quickly took on a life of its own. An avid reader of all types of fiction, she soon discovered she enjoyed writing a variety as well.

Tara lives in the Southeastern United States with her family, two dogs, and a cat.
