UTC Recommends: Best of the Month

pop art retro woman in comics style

What happened in May?  We all had a lot going on with real life and didn’t get to read a whole lot!  Very disappointing.  But here are some of the books that made an impact and the ones we are anticipating and recommending coming out in June.

DEAREST ROGUE by Elizabeth Hoyt [Historical Romance] – I’ve been a fan of this series for quite some time but I think this book is one of my favorites. Featuring a blind hero and a Captain for a hero, Hoyt really has the romance down pat in this installment to the Maiden Lane series

LOST ALONG THE WAY by Marie Sexton [M/M Romance] – I read this last night and was surprised by the amount of charm, humor and emotion in this little novella. It’s even better than most of the full length novels I’ve read recently so I’m quite pleased with the way Sexton handled this sweet story between Danny and Landon.

Looking ahead into June, I am most looking forward to reading some more of Bella Andre’s work. This time she is pairing up with her best friend, Jennifer Skully for a new billionaire series. The first book is called BREATHLESS IN LOVE. Jill Shalvis’ kicks off her new series with SECOND CHANCE SUMMER and my other favorite Contemp author, Kristen Ashley has the next book in her Chaos series, RIDE STEADY. For Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy, I’m looking forward to Shelly Laurenston’s WOLF WITH BENEFITS (paperback release) and also Amanda Carlson’s PURE BLOODED

I sucked ass at reading this month so this will be a short list since I didn’t read much and didn’t get much read from my June reads either.  So here goes!

I didn’t read anything that completely blew me away in May.  Gasp!  But I enjoyed two books that I’ve been meaning to read for the longest time.  THE MADNESS OF LORD IAN MACKENZIE by Jennifer Ashley and DARE TO LOVE by Carly Phillips.  Will definitely be picking up the rest in those two series soon!

In June I’m looking forward to OPENING UP by Lauren Dane!  I can’t wait to dive in and although she’s a fave author of mine, I am a cover whore and that is just a gorgeous cover.

Another one of my favorite authors is releasing a m/m novella in one of my absolute favorite series right now.  YOURS ALL ALONG by Roni Loren comes out mid month.

And I’ve actually just read this next one and it was AH.MA.ZING!  MIDNIGHT CAPTIVE by Elle Kennedy continues on the high note where the last one left off.  Explosive storyline, action packed and chocked full of chemistry.  Not to be missed!

May was not a good month for me not only I didn’t get much reading time there weren’t a lot of books that appealed to me.  Only one really stood out.
Darynda Jones’ Eighth Grave After Dark.  I can’t tell you enough how much I love this series. Darynda exceeds my expectations each book she releases…that never fails.  In this installment, questions that plagued fans are answered.  Darynda takes the series in a whole different direction keeping me very intrigued and of course wanting the next book ASAP.
Since May was a bust, I’m expecting June to have better releases.  I’ve been craving for some UF/PNR so, I’m excited for Amanda Carlson’s PURE BLOODED.  For contemporary, I’m looking forward to Jennifer Probst’s SEARCHING FOR ALWAYS and Melody Anne’s HER HOMETOWN HERO.  Lastly, I’m planning on reading a book called VALENTINE by Heather Grothaus.  I sorta stumbled upon the cover and I couldn’t not take a risk. Yes, I live dangerously. LOL

May has been a slow month for me, mainly populated with rereads! I can’t quite seem to find anything that hits the spot. But, there were a few exceptions. I really enjoyed Carolyn Crane’s Behind the Mask, if you want something full of suspense and sexual tension then I highly recommend you give it a try. I also really enjoyed Stephanie Laurens Devil’s Bride, the first in her Cynsters series, it is a bit of an old one and I am now kicking myself that I didn’t crack it open sooner!

Also, special mention to me reread of the Edge series by Ilona Andrews, it’s definitely just as good the third time round!

Now I am eagerly anticipating June! My next Kristen Ashley fix approaches with the release of Ride Steady, the third in the Chaos series. And who can resist a Nalini Singh release?! Shards of Hope another winner in the Psy Changeling series.

I loved 8th Grave.

I haven’t read any of those books. Angela mentioned being excited for Searching for Always. I really want to read Jennifer Probst most recent release. It looks super cute!
