Welcome to Under the Covers. We are so excited to have you here as part of COVER MODEL WEEK, so thank you! Now let’s get to know you a little better.
Tell us 5 things about yourself that most people wouldn’t know.
1) I am ambidextrous / cross-dominant.
2) I like to cook (especially breakfast).
3) I love chocolate chip cookies… Even though only about half the cookie dough makes it into the oven before it “disappears”.
4) I enjoy ancient Greek and Roman Philosophy, and I minored philosophy in college.
5) I am big into sci-fi. Anything concerning the paranormal, and exploring the far reaches of the imagination is right up my alley!
How did you get started modeling?
A representative from the company saw one of my music ads and hired me for commercial photo shoot. Following that shoot I started getting more calls, until it reached the point I needed an agency to handle the business end.
What has been your favorite photo shoot or modeling experience you’ve had so far and why?
My favorite photo shoot so far has to be the shoot for ‘Wicked’ by Jennifer Armentrout. Not only was the entire photo shoot underwater, which was a unique experience, but I got to work with the beautiful Heather MacDonald, who is now one of my good friends.
Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.
Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.
Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.
But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.
Do you have any funny/awkward moments on set that you can remember?
I don’t know about any awkward moments, but I am always goofing off and laughing with the photographer and/or co-model, if I’m shooting with another model. I’m known to randomly break into song and dance, including moon walking across the set when the right tune comes on. LOL
How do you keep in such good shape?
I keep in shape by working out about five days a week, four hours per day. I usually break it up into two, two-hour workouts (morning & evening). That way my metabolism stays up throughout the day, and I can take advantage of maximum caloric expenditure.
Do you have any rituals before you go into a photo shoot?
I don’t really have any rituals before a photo shoot. Unless you count pre-ordering a pizza, and chilling the drinks for the after shoot indulgence. 🙂
Do you read any part of the books you’re on the cover of? Anything in particular that made you blush?
I read part of ‘Wicked’ with the thought that maybe I could learn a thing or two from my character. 😉 In all seriousness though..I don’t get embarrassed too easily. Not yet anyway…
You don’t have to work on a weekend and just get to relax. What can we find you doing?
My relaxing weekends usually start off with cooking chocolate gravy and biscuits for breakfast…which is my little girl’s favorite meal! After that we’ll usually play dress-up, work puzzles, color, watch Disney movies, and best of all…she likes to paint Daddy’s toenails. 🙂 After a fun filled day of activities, most times she requests chocolate gravy again for dinner. lol After dinner we get ready for bed and cuddle up with bedtime stories and songs.
Tell us one of your guilty pleasures.
Aside from chocolate gravy, I would have to say that my grandma’s homemade banana pudding tops the list of my guilty pleasures. If a container of pudding is left unattended in the same room with me, it’s like I black out and don’t wake up until it’s all gone!
And just to make the ladies swoon a bit… You are taking your girl out on a date and really want to impress her. What’s your game plan?
Since I am constantly on the go and rarely have any downtime, I think my ideal date would be staying in away from all outside distractions. If I were to plan a special date for someone, I would most likely cook and serve her favorite meal for dinner, including a special dessert (most likely something with chocolate). After dinner we could could have some popcorn and cuddle up to one of her favorite movies. That way, if she’s seen it many times, we won’t be lost when we end up paying more attention to each other than the movie. 😉 During the movie I would offer her a neck and back rub… This would be in preparation for a candle-lit bubble bath, topped off with a glass of her favorite wine to end the night. 🙂
Cover Model Week was started due to our excitement about the RT Book Convention. Have you had a chance to attend any book signings? And what the best experience you had during one so far?
I have attended a couple book signings so far. The best experience I have had to date would have to be Penned Con 2014 in St. Louis, MO. I met a lot of great people there, who’ve become good friends of mine.
Want to meet Justin? He will be attending a few conferences this year!
I’ll be in Dallas for RT May 12-17, Vegas July 17-19 for LoveNVegas, and at Naughty In Nashville Aug 28-30.
Rapid Fire Questions
Favorite Song (right now)
My favorite song is currently ‘Girl Crush’ by Little Big Town.
Weapon of choice (should the Zombie Apocalypse happen)
For a zombie attack my weapon of choice would be dual butterfly swords.
Blondes, brunettes, and redheads all have unique beauty features… But it’s red hair for me.
Being a former Division-1 college player (pitcher), my favorite sport is baseball.
Being of Native American descent, and having more of the werewolf traits, I have to go with team Jacob. ;p
But for baseball it’s the Atlanta Braves, and the Dallas Cowboys for football.
Beach or Mountain
This is a tough one, but I would have to go with Mountain for residents and beach for vacation. I love camping, canoeing, fishing, wildlife, and hiking… Pretty much everything having to do with the outdoors. Can’t find any of that on the beach, but it sure is nice to get a break from the winter at times. Not to mention a tan. lol
Where can fans find you and connect with you online?
