A Day in the Week of Faith Hunter: Saturday
This is the weekend. Most people are rushing around trying to get stuff done so they can hit a bar or nightclub or sporting event. Or just spend time with loved ones. Working at home, my life doesn’t change as much some people’s. Today is a little different.
I don’t usually paddle on weekends, but the cold has lifted and I can hit the water! Sometimes we take RV and spend the night on a river somewhere, the Hubs, the dogs, and me. But today we’ll make the drive to nearby river and run the Class II rapids. I love kayaking. I used to be terrified of being upside down, skirted into a boat, but for the most part, I’m over that. Unlike the Hubs, I don’t regularly run Class III rapids so the danger is fairly small and the wonder of being outdoors in nature is something that fills me up spiritually. Even if I do something stupid and swim, it’s all good, since the sun is out and the world warm with the first hint of spring. I come home enlivened and alert and cold! The air might be warm, but the water is melted snow and sleet. It’s icy!
It takes a bit to get warm and to get all the paddling clothes clean. I take care of the clothes and the Hubs takes care of the other gear. In summer that isn’t a big deal, but in winter it can be a very big deal! Lots of clothes to rinse and hang up in the shower to drain!
Refreshed, I dive into the writing and it is going very well! Eli and Jane are snarking at each other and I can see a fight coming up. Not between Eli and Jane. Not this time. It’s going so well that I have to be reminded to take breaks. Thank goodness for the dogs and their minuscule bladders!
I write ten pages. Well, nine and a half. But I’m claiming ten since it’s the end of a chapter. Book 10 in the Jane Yellowrock work is coming along nicely. Currently, I have a working title though I for certain that it won’t be the final one. Working title? Okay I’ll share. RISING UN-DEAD. I like it! It’s a little twisty and it says it all. What’s the book about? The Witch Conclave is the backdrop, but the action seems to hover over Vamp HQ. But doesn’t it always?
Okay, y’all. Saturday is quiet for me. I know. I’m dull. No parties. None of those aforementioned bon-bons. Just work and now curling up with the dogs while I read a book. But it’s a good book and it looks likely that I’ll blurb this one. I like!
Shapeshifting skinwalker Jane Yellowrock is the best in the business when it comes to slaying vampires. But her latest fanged foe may be above her pay grade…
For centuries, the extremely powerful and ruthless vampire witches of the European Council have wandered the Earth, controlling governments, fostering war, creating political conflict, and often leaving absolute destruction in their wake. One of the strongest of them is set to create some havoc in the city of New Orleans, and it’s definitely personal.
Jane is tasked with tracking him down. With the help of a tech wiz and an ex-Army ranger, her partners in Yellowrock Securities, she’ll have to put everything on the line, and hope it’s enough. Things are about to get real hard in the Big Easy.
