Author Override: Tonya Burrows

Posted March 17, 2015 by Under the Covers Book Blog in Author Override, Featured Authors / 8 Comments

I’ll let you in on a little secret—I am not a fan of blogging, and I always drag my feet a bit when I’m due to write a post. But when Under the Covers suggested a “who wore it better?” topic for this post, I did a little happy dance in my chair. This, I can blog about. I do love me some sexy military heroes! So I immediately filled my Netflix queue up with every military movie or TV show I could find and binge-watched them over the weekend, studying their male leads closely. Very closely.  *ahem*

What? It’s for science! I swear.

So let’s get to it, huh? Which of the following actors wore their dog tags better?

1.) Jake Gyllenhaal in Jarhead vs Alexander Skarsgard in Generation Kill

All my love to A-Skars, but Gyllenhaal wins this battle for me. He’s shirtless and reading. Be still my writer’s heart.

2.) Bradley Cooper in American Sniper vs. Mark Wahlberg in Lone Survivor

This one is more a battle of “Who wore SEAL better?” And although I didn’t make it to the theaters to see American Sniper, from the pictures alone, I have to say Cooper wins this battle.

3.) Josh Harnett in Black Hawk Down vs. Jeremy Renner in The Hurt Locker

You know, I think Josh Harnett is a beautiful man, but in this showdown Renner beats him, hands down. Harnett is a little too baby-faced to pull off the hardened soldier look.

4.) Philip Winchester in Strike Back vs. Sullivan Stapleton in Strike Back

Hah! Trick Question. They both win. And I’m *dying* for the final season of this show to air this summer.

What do you think? Do you agree with my choices?
Any other actors I missed who wore their dog tags well?
Let me know in the comments!

Broken Honor

Ice-cold and unbreakable, Travis Quinn is the HORNET team’s hard-ass. No weaknesses. Except, of course, for the accident that not only destroyed his career as a Navy SEAL, but left terrifying blanks in his memory. But Travis remembers everything about Mara Escareno—the curve of her lips, the feel of her body…and how he walked out on her suddenly six weeks ago. Mara could never resist the dangerously sexy Travis, which is probably how she ended up pregnant and disowned by her family. But before Travis can fully process the news, Mara is kidnapped by his enemies and plunged into the violent, merciless world of human trafficking. They want Travis—and the information locked within his damaged memory—no matter the cost. And now Travis’s enemies have discovered his only weakness…Mara.

Tyrese and Josh Duhamel in Transformers

I actually haven’t seen the Transformers movies because the director’s super-fast style gives me a headache. But Tyrese and Josh Duhamel? Yeah, I bet they rocked those dog tags!

How about Sylvester Stallone in First Blood??? It was an excellent movie from way back before the general public had heard of PTSD.
You were right to pick Cooper over Wahlberg. Totally. And if you still haven’t seen American Sniper, its still playing in theaters around me, maybe you too. Its a terrific movie.

Eh, we’ll have to agree to disagree on that one. I’ve never been a big Stallone fan. *ducks and runs*

American Sniper is not in theaters around here any more, but I definitely plan to see it as soon as it comes out on DVD. I’m looking forward to it!
