“DEAD HEAT is definitely not a book to be missed by Urban Fantasy lovers.” ~ Under the Covers

Patricia Briggs possesses a very vast imagination. With all her books, there is an endless supply of mytical creatures with unknown origins and plenty of room for Briggs to play with. With so many books already under her belt in several genres, I am really impressed with the way Briggs is able to incorporate folklore and her own interests seamlessly into her books.

This time, in the fourth book of the Alpha & Omega series, Briggs focuses on her love of horses. Anna’s birthday is approaching and Charles wishes to give his wife something special. While the book starts off slow and sweet, it doesn’t stay that way for long. When something causes a mother to try to kill her own children, it is clear that something had taken a turn for the worse. Charles and Anna wish to help this family but it seems that this is only just the beginning. A Fae is on the loose, causing havoc and tormenting children. Charles and Anna must act before permanent damage is made.

Out of Briggs’ two Urban Fantasy series, this one seems to be a little more softer, but no less exciting. With Anna and Charles’ alternating POVs, readers get the best of the worlds. I find it so easy to read about them. They have this sweetness that I don’t think her other series has, but at the same time, the action scenes came become quite dark and gritty as well. Briggs strikes a really good balance here.

DEAD HEAT is definitely not a book to be missed by Urban Fantasy lovers.

Currently, she lives in Montana with her husband, children and six horses and writes full-time, much to the delight of her fans.

That is a good point about the difference between Charles and Anna and Mercy. I love that Charles gets to narrate and there is a softer feel in this series.
