~Doing the BEST OF the whole year is one of the hardest things we do as bloggers. We are fortunate with a lot of great books and picking the best and the worst is really tough.
BEST NEW RELEASE: A Cursed Bloodline by Cecy Robson |
Cecy was my Author of the year for all things author in 2013. With her latest release A Cursed Bloodline, she makes to my Best New Release for 2014. This book was amazing and is the best of the series by far! If you like PNR with strong heroines, good humor, and great world building, this is the book for you.
BEST NEW TO ME BOOK: The Others by Anne Bishop and Wallbanger by Alice Clayton |
I have been wanting to read Bishop’s The Others since Suzanne, Fran and Annie had read and loved it. I recently just read both installments and loved it. If you like UF reads, I suggest not to put off reading this series. It’s reallllly good.
Quite a contrast from The Others isn’t? Like The Others, I was late in the game reading this series. I really shouldn’t have waited and I suggest you don’t either if you have this on your list. This series has yet to fail me. Each installment is full of good humor, sexy scenes and good romance.
BEST NEW SERIES: Wild Seasons by Christina Lauren |
This was a hard one to pick. I tried to look for new series and I guess I really didn’t start a lot of new series this year. Looking back, Wild Seasons is one that stuck out. This had all of the things I love in a book. It was sweet, sexy and quite romantic. I don’t follow any othe series from this author but this particular one I recommend.
FAVORITE HEROINE: Celia Weird by Cecy Robson and Charley Davidson by Darynda Jones |
These two characters have a few things in common making them my favorite heroine. They are both courageous, selfless, and they are both love by everyone around them. They can be funny, sexy and kick ass when they want to be. I am addicted to the lives they live and the adventures they have in their world.
FAVORITE HERO: Wrath by J. R. Ward |
Of course!!! He is the first hero that I’ve fallen deep in love with since starting this wild hobby of reading. The King tells the rest of his story in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I love him.
BEST COVER: Hollywood on Tap by Avery Flynn |
Another hard task because the cover has to go with that particular genre, right? But I think this particular cover can belong to many genres IMO. This guy is all kinds of awesome.
BIGGEST LETDOWN: Never Deal with Dragons series by Lorenda Christensen |
I’m usually easy to please and rarely that I am disappointed with any of the books I read. However, this particular series, I am. It started out with a bang but the following books…not so much. The third installment recently came out and it just didn’t have the umph as the first book. I was really hoping it would be a good dragoon series.
BEST SEX SCENE: The Professional by Kresley Cole |
Review: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
I like to read books with good romance and good sex scenes are definitely a plus. I looked through the books I read this year and none of them can beat The Professional’s steam factor. The sex scenes are truly unforgettable. I will never look at saunas and hallway closets the same way again.
AUTHOR OF THE YEAR: Keri Lake |
What makes a best author anyways? I always ask myself this each year we do this task and every year I come up with the same answers…. She has to be a good writer for sure. She has to be respected by her peers and fans is definitely a must. And of course, I have to love her. This year I pick Keri Lake.
