Welcome to UTC! Let’s get to know you better! Who is MIA Sheridan? Tell us five interesting things about yourself that readers wouldn’t know!
1. I NEVER expected more than a few friends, and perhaps my husband to read my first book. To know that strangers were reading it was completely shocking! (And it still kind of is!)
2. I’m very uncomfortable being in any kind of spotlight. And I’m a horrible public speaker!
3. I’m a home body. I love nothing more than being curled up on my couch with a good book! I’d rather be at home than on vacation.
4. I’m a total and complete girlie-girl.
5. I cry really easily, even sometimes when I’m happy.
Becoming Calder has captured the hearts of many. What was your experience writing it?
Thank you! I was nervous writing this particular story, as I knew that some people (especially in this genre) wouldn’t necessarily like a cult story – it’s an uncomfortable topic, not a lot is known about them, and a lot of it seems far-fetched (though, unfortunately, it’s not). But I had a story to tell, and I decided to go for it.
How do you approach writing a series? Do you have all the stories in your head before hand?
As far as my process, I *do* generally have the basic story outlined in my head (and written in bullet points on paper) before I begin writing. That way, I know where I’m starting, and I know where I want to end up. The middle sometimes is a bit of a mystery, but it’s always worked itself out so far!
What do you absolutely need before sitting down to write for the day?
For some strange reason, I have to be showered and dressed and feeling put-together. I’ve decided it’s a confidence thing. If it’s the morning, I have coffee, and if it’s the evening, I have wine!
Who is your biggest inspiration when it comes to writing?
I really, really admire Colleen Hoover because I think that her own personality, the genuine-ness of who she is, comes through in her writing. I strive to make my own voice strong enough that that happens for me as well.
For readers that are not familiar with the series, how would you summarize it?
I actually call it a “collection” more than a series as they’re all stand-alone stories (either contained in one book or two) with no cross over characters or story lines. Each one is based on one of the signs of the zodiac and inspiration is acquired from either a legend, or a quality of the sign, or something along those lines before I start writing.
What’s next for Mia Sheridan?
I *just* started my seventh novel, this one based on Taurus.
Thank you so much for chatting with us today and can’t wait for your next book!
There is a place in modern day America with no electricity, no plumbing, and no modern conveniences. In this place, there is no room for dreams, no space for self-expression, and no tolerance for ambition.
In this place, there is a boy with the body of a god and the heart of a warrior. He is strong and faithful and serves his family honorably. But he dares to dream of more.
In this place, there is a girl with the face of an angel and a heart full of courage. To her family, she is the vision of obedient perfection. But she dares to want that which she has been told can never be hers.
Becoming Calder is the story of good versus evil, fear versus bravery, and the truth that the light of love has always found its way into even the darkest of places . . . From the beginning of time, to the end of the world.
THIS IS THE FIRST PART IN A TWO-PART SIGN OF LOVE SERIES INSPIRED BY AQUARIUS. THE SECOND PART, FINDING EDEN, RELEASES SIMULTANEOUSLY. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and graphic sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
