So when I saw that this was an “Author’s Topic” I started scratching my head. Thinking and plotting out novels is far easier for me than to come up with a topic to write about for a blog. The safe angle is to write about my novels, tell everyone reading this why I think you’d like the books I write. Or I can do the shameless self-promotion and pitch my newest novel that is out today, HERE WITH ME. But I’m not going to tell you to go one-click right now. You know that’s what I want you to do. It’s what every author, blogger and reader wants us to do.
What I want you to do is read HERE WITH ME and understand what a significant other goes through when they’re partner is called up for deployment. Most of the time the soldiers have a fair amount of warning, but others don’t. Spouses can come home from work, or from being at the park and not know if their soldier will be home for dinner. Even knowing doesn’t ease the minds of the loved ones or prepare them for what lies ahead. It’s the unknown that breaks the hearts of the girlfriends, wives, boyfriends and husbands over and over again.
When I sat to write HERE WITH ME I had a vision of a woman telling her life story, but for me that wasn’t enough. Countless interviews, stories, articles, a very special colleague and searching through website that would make most people cringe is what I had to do to write this story. It was nine months before I felt like it was done.
HERE WITH ME is a military story, and one that I’m very proud of. My father-in-law was in the Navy and volunteers at the Navy Outreach Center helping our wounded get some semblance of their lives back after being injured. He’s proud of me, but not nearly as proud as I am of him and every service person we have. This novel is dedicated to men and women who serve our country, who protect our country.
Ryley Clarke has grown up with the military in her blood, with both parents serving their country. Ryley knows the risks of being married to the military. But when the unthinkable happens, and her future husband is killed in action, Ryley can barely survive… until Evan’s twin brother, Nate, helps her pick up the pieces.
After serving on a special mission with the military for six years, Evan Archer returns home to find the unthinkable – the love of his life, Ryley Clarke – engaged to his brother, Nate. With Nate on deployment, Evan needs to figure out what happened in his absence, and more importantly, how to win Ryley back from the man he once considered his best friend, but now thinks of as his rival.
