“Barrett’s writing and authorial voice fits perfectly for this genre. I found it so easy to get lost in her words and characters.” ~ Under the Covers

Amanda Aligheri spends too much time working so in an effort to try and get some much needed downtime, she makes a New Year’s resolution to go to Napa and relax. There she finds the sexy Liam Flynn who plans to wine and dine her until she forgets herself. It is exactly the distraction she needs.

Elisabeth Barrett hits on the sweeter side of the Contemporary Romance scale. I’m such a sucker for these holiday themed romances. There’s just something so intriguing to me about putting two characters together and seeing where their relationship takes them. Barrett’s writing and authorial voice fits perfectly for this genre. I found it so easy to get lost in her words and characters.

For a novella, Barrett was able to capture all I love in a Contemporary Romance which I think is a hard to do. Yet I found myself smiling from ear to ear as I read Amanda and Liam’s story.

About Elisabeth Barrett

Raised in small-town Connecticut, Elisabeth spent most of her formative years playing the piano and reading everything she could get her hands on. In high school, she took a job at her local bookstore where she first discovered romance novels. She would stay long after closing time to squeeze in just one more chapter.

After working summers as a guest student at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, she studied biology as an undergraduate before attending law school. Elisabeth then spent nearly a decade working as a patent attorney, focusing her practice on both biotechnology litigation and prosecution. Inspired by those summers on Cape Cod, she started writing fiction . . . a habit she can’t seem to break.

Now a displaced New Englander, Elisabeth lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and spends her days teaching, editing, writing sexy contemporary romance, and enjoying time with her sometimes-bearded husband and three spirited children. She is constantly perfecting her home-work-writing juggling act, but in her free time she loves to hike open space preserves, grow orchids, bake sweet things her husband won’t eat, and sing in grand choruses.

I’m an obsessive makeup junkie and a compulsive reader. I like to call Under the Covers Book Blog my stomping ground, but when I’m not talking about books with my girls, I write New Adult Dystopian and Contemporary Romance under the pen name Ana Jolene ( I also work as a virtual assistant for authors. You also can find me as a reviewer and columnist for

When it comes to books I’m pretty adventurous. I read everything from Paranormal Romance to Urban Fantasy, New Adult, BDSM, LGBT fiction, Cozy Mysteries and even YA. If it’s got the littlest trace of romance in it, then I’ll probably read it. That being said, my all-time favorite authors are J.R. Ward and Karen Marie Moning.

When I’m not submerged in a good book, you can find me musing about makeup and planners or dreaming about Kpop boys and beaches. Until then, check out my reviews and let’s talk books!
