“Brook never fails to give me exactly what I want; adventure, romance and excitement” ~ Under the Covers

If I had to chose a book that I loved the most this year Riveted would be a front runner. Brook never fails to give me exactly what I want; adventure, romance and excitement and all in such an interesting and original way that I can’t help but get 100% caught up in the book and have great sense of disappointed that it had to end.

Annika and David are new characters in the Iron Seas series, which gives us a fresh new perspective and allows us to explore a different part of the world than the previous books. All of which set up a fantastic background for the slow building, yet completely beautiful and breathtaking romance that was growing between Annika and David.

Annika hoped that David would be the last sight she ever saw, his gaze burning with love. She hoped that the very last thing she ever felt was this wonderful, riveted twist in her gut, and the touch of his warm lips.

But, as well as the lovely and passionate romance that Brook so effortlessly seems to build, the story and the world she has created also captured my attention. The more I read this series the richer it becomes and allows for some action packed and exciting stories as well as romance, this all culminates together to create a book that I just couldn’t put down.

Love. This. Book. My favourite in the series so far, I loved the main characters, they were quirky and so well drawn that by the end of the book I felt like I knew them, and the romance between them was deliciously slow building yet intense and passionate. Once again Meljean Brook has written a book that I can’t fault.

About Meljean Brook

Meljean was raised in the middle of the woods, and hid under her blankets at night with fairy tales, comic books, and romances. She left the forest and went on a misguided tour through the world of accounting before focusing on her first loves, reading and writing–and she realized that monsters, superheroes, and happily-ever-afters are easily found between the covers, as well as under them, so she set out to make her own.

Meljean lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and daughter.

I keep meaning to give Meljean Brook’s steampunk a try, and I think that reading your review may have just tipped me over the edge. A contender for your top of the year, eh? I didn’t realize that there were so many novellas in this series either—nice! Adding The Iron Duke to my wishlist.
