“…like watching bad reality TV, I managed to enjoy some of it.” ~ Under the Covers
Piper has been attracted to Erik forever, and for one night they both indulge in that attraction. No strings attached. It’s hot and explosive and leaves them both thinking about the other for the longest time after. But Piper is forced to get Erik back in her life when she discovers that night of passion got her pregnant.
I usually think these kinds of stories can be cute, but I found it hard to get over the jerk-y behavior from the hero. Just when I thought I could start liking him, he did something else that just came across selfish and rude and made me want t bang his head against a wall a couple of times. And I get that he was trying to deny his attraction because he never planned on being in a relationship because of his past etc. It didn’t work for me.
Piper is also a bit wishy-washy. She’s seen as the irresponsible in her family, the one that you would expect would just get pregnant out of wedlock or even a relationship. So in a way, faking they are a couple (and have been for a while) works just as much in her favor as well as Erik’s. I gotta say I wish she would’ve shown more growth. Starting out one way, but then when faced with this new stage of her life and the responsibilities that come with it, she could’ve stepped up and put some big girl panties on. Taken charge. That didn’t quite happen.
The books I’ve read in this story have been cute and light and maybe a little sweet. This was going for that and it hit at some points. It wasn’t the strongest by far. You know when I’m rooting for the heroine to wake her ass up and leave the bastard hanging, taking baby and everything, there’s a problem.
Still, Piper and Erik have their hot moments among all this chaos. And once I took myself out of the equation I managed to enjoyed the train wreck that was their relationship, like watching bad reality TV, I managed to enjoy some of it. I still will give this series another chance. I have read completely out of order but I believe these books work very well as standalones.

I get easily distracted by pictures of sexy guys and have tons of book boyfriends.I keep all my alpha males chained to my basement and guard them fiercely.*Back off bitches*I like to see Jason Momoa as a lot of those boyfriends, because ….. mmmmmmm JASON.MOMOA!
I’m a part time graphic designer (yes, everything you see on UTC has been done by me), run my husband's business from home and on a good day I’m a self appointed superwoman (she who can do it all).I love blogging with my girls and I couldn’t do it any other way!My first love is everything paranormal, but in the past few years I’ve re-learned to love contemporary romance.Every once in a while I like to mix things up with a historical romance, a steampunk or an LGBT book.Because I need variety to avoid book slumps.I don’t always need an HEA although I prefer one, and I love authors that can rip my heart out and make me ugly cry.
