Welcome to what used to be called just Dom’s Dungeon in our BURNING UP JULY month! Since last year we’ve added a few extra categories in looking for the hottest heroes of the year, and this year we’ve asked some of our favorite bloggers to come and tell us why they think the hero they like should win.
The last competition is for BEST DIRTY TALKER. For the next three days you will meet the nominees and you will be able to cast your votes starting on the third day. Voting will run until the end of the month. And because we are nice like that, check out the end of this post to see the giveaway we are running month long during the competition.
Do you ever get tired of the typical, boring CEO or billionaire hero? We see so many of the same thing don’t you think it would be refreshing to find a blue collar, down and dirty man who knows what a woman wants and can give it to her without all the emotional angst that comes with money and fame? Well then I have the perfect man for you, Eric Collier from Hard Time by Cara McKenna.
He was big. Tall frame, wide shoulders-but not burly. Unlike many of the inmates, his head wasn’t shaved. His near-black hair was due for a cut in fact, curling under his ears. Dark brows, dark stubble, dark lashes and eyes. And he was handsome. So handsome it broke your heart.
He watched me. But not the way the others did.
Eric can bring the dirty whether in letter or in person. He writes some of the most amazing, sexy, raunchy letters to the heroine:
I probably don’t make love. I probably fuck. I’d try for you if you asked me to, though. You’d have to tell me how it’s different. It just seems like something a different kind of man would do.
I’ve never been with a southern girl but it’s like every word you say comes out rolled in sugar. I think about kissing you like I said. Real deep and slow with our eyes closed. Maybe feel your hands on my chest or my back. As I hold your face or your hair. As I got to see if you taste like sugar to match how you sound.
There’s other ways I think about your mouth and about holding your face and hair, too. I think you can guess what I mean.
But then when you get him in person, he is even filthier. He can make any woman want to run straight to a cold shower after hearing his words.
He stroked my hair lovingly, then the hand I’d put on his hip.
“Now suck me.”
I took him in my mouth once more, so much easier on my knees.
“Nice and hard. Good…Goddamn, I think you like that, sometimes.”
I told him with my mouth, I fucking love it.
“Yeah. Fuck. Do it like you want, baby.”
I have only given you a taste of the dirty talk Eric Collier can provide. He starts out as a convict in jail and still manages to charm the panties off a woman. I bet he could work some magic with any of us. 😉

What UTC has to say about Eric:
Eric’s letters to Annie are poetic, vulnerable and utterly erotic. The letters definitely become my favourite thing about this book. It makes it sexy without having the characters take their clothes off.
Here’s a little taste of his letters:
I bet you taste amazing. I’d treat you so good just to taste even more of it. I’d make you come that way if you’d let me. I’d spoil you so good before I ever asked for anything for myself just so you know I care about you. Maybe if I did a good job you’d reward me. Let me inside you. It’s been so long since I felt that. And you’d be so wet from what I made you feel. I hope I can say that word to you. Wet. That’s probably a rude word to say but I think about it. About making you that way and how incredible it’d feel. Being inside you.
In this all-new novel from the author of Unbound, a woman with a rocky past finds romance in the last place she’d ever expect…
Annie Goodhouse doesn’t need to be warned about bad boys; good sense and an abusive ex have given her plenty of reasons to play it safe. But when she steps into her new role as outreach librarian for Cousins Correctional Facility, no amount of good sense can keep her mind—or eyes—off inmate Eric Collier.
Eric doesn’t claim to be innocent of the crime that landed him in prison. In fact, he’d do it again if that’s what it took to keep his family safe. Loyalty and force are what he knows. But meeting Annie makes him want to know more.
When Eric begins courting Annie through letters, they embark on a reckless, secret romance—a forbidden fantasy that neither imagines could ever be real…until early parole for Eric changes everything, and forces them both to face a past they can’t forget, and a desire they can’t deny.
