“Strong, poignant and sexy – Laurelin Paige books are so addicting, it’s impossible to stop reading.” ~Under the Covers

The second book in the Fixed trilogy is just as engaging and sexy as the first. Alayna has fallen deeply in love with Hudson Pierce. The two are just beginning a wonderful relationship when Celia, the woman Hudson was intended to marry shows up at their apartment. Though far from nasty, Celia presents a problem that affects Alayna’s obsessions. As Alayna and Celia get closer, details of Hudson’s past are revealed.

I was shocked by his past, but it’s a testament to Alayna’s character that she sticks with him. The same thing goes for Hudson. He remains a constant presence in Alayna’s life, never once thinking her obsessions are crazy. In fact, he sees nothing wrong with her at all and it makes me adore his character even more.

As you can guess, this book revolves around the notion of trust a lot. Alayna’s doubts and Hudson’s secrets all play a part in learning to trust one another. I think it’s a very realistic notion for a romance novel. Not many books focus on that and can make it work.

There are two things that make me love this series. The first is the continuous doubts that Alayna has. She is incredibly flawed, but still very likeable. It would be so easy to write her off as crazy or label her as paranoid, but Paige strikes that balance with her character that I think is hard to achieve. As a result, Hudson’s character also shines because he continues to love Alayna, with her flaws and all.

The second thing is Paige’s authorial voice. Strong, poignant and sexy – Laurelin Paige books are so addicting, it’s impossible to stop reading. Much like Alayna, I became obsessed with this series, telling my friends about it and thinking about it when I wasn’t reading.

About Laurelin Paige

NY Times & USA Today Bestselling author Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine. She is represented by Bob Diforio of D4EO Literary Agency.
