Interview and Giveaway with Eden Bradley

~ EDEN BRADLEY ~

Hello Eden and welcome to Under the Covers! We are excited to hear more about DANGEROUSLY BOUND and congrats on the release!

Lets start by talking shop here. How did the idea for DANGEROUSLY BOUND came to be and evolve?

There were three things that came into play. First, being what we call a ‘real-lifer’ I always love to write kink. I feel the characters can be explored in such a deep way in this arena where people are their most primal and vulnerable selves. It didn’t hurt that when I went back to contract with Berkley my editor asked for a kink series! And lastly, I wanted to write about New Orleans again—when I was developing this story I hadn’t written about the city since my novella THE ART OF DESIRE (in the Hot Nights, Dark Desires anthology). It’s a magical place to me—the city itself is almost another a, it makes for such a rich backdrop. I’m so excited that I’ll be there for the RT Booklovers Convention in May!

What was your biggest obstacle to overcome while writing the book?

I really had no obstacles with this story, except maybe that I needed to do more research into rope bondage—but that definitely wasn’t an obstacle. I had to make it to several rope events a month…poor me! *G*

I always wonder how much research authors put in their books, so what was the most interesting thing you had to do or search for to write DANGEROUSLY BOUND?

I think the most interesting would be a tie (ha!) between learning more about rope and researching MMA fight training for my hero, Mick. My massage therapist does the training for the discipline and to keep in shape, and he also had me talk to one of his friends who competes. Fascinating stuff! You would not believe what these guys put themselves through. It’s also sexy as hell. And yes, my massage therapist is hot. *G*

Have you ever made up something (like a toy, for example) to fit in a scene you wanted to write?

The thing is, if you or I or any author can think of something to include in a kink scene, someone else has already thought of it and put it into production. Seriously. If it comes to mind it can be Googled, or I’ve seen it at one of the clubs. I wish I had a more exciting answer. But just for thrills, one of the strangest things I’ve seen recently was a human hamster wheel.
Oh—and by the way, the human chandelier I reference in my spin-off book DANGEROUSLY INKED was also a real thing. I hope to see it again at Bondage Expo Dallas in a few weeks!

What is your favorite type of scene to write and why?

I love to write the Black Moment, where the relationship is on the line and emotions run high and someone might be in tears. Does that make me a drama queen…? As long as that isn’t my life, I love it!

If you could describe Mick using only three words, what would they be?

Charismatic. Bad-ass. Commanding.

This is the beginning of a new series for you. What can readers expect from this series?

They can expect some very intense romance, along with kink scenes that push the envelope a bit. I want to write this series in a way that brings a very realistic portrayal of BDSM to my readers, so I’m not holding back. You can also expect strong heroines, hot tattooed heroes, hot cars and motorcycles, and a Dom in a kilt. With heavy black boots. And a Scottish accent. *sigh*

What’s next for Eden Bradley?

My next release will be PLEASURE POINT in September, part of the 27-author Invitation to Eden continuity series with an amazing lineup of authors. Seriously, I am fangirling all over the place! And the series is so much fun to work on. We spent weeks brainstorming to work out what the island resort of Eden would be like, and we’re still talking about details, using each other’s characters in our books—it’s a pretty exciting project. We’re releasing three books by three different authors each month—the free prequel by our fearless leader Lauren Hawkeye (Jameson) was just released, and the first trio of stories will be available April 15th. You can find more info on our website: http://www.invitationtoeden.com/
And my blog group The Smutekteers (with authors R.G. Alexander and Robin L. Rotham) is doing a monthly Invitation to Eden book club—it’s going to be tons of fun! We’ll have author chats, giveaways and games all through to the end of the year…you can join us here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/invitationtoeden/?fref=ts

Eden Bradley’s DANGEROUSLY BOUND!

She wasn’t as innocent as he remembered. He’s twice as wicked as she ever imagined.
“For those who are born to New Orleans, it’s in your blood. It lingers there no matter where you go. BDSM is the same sort of thing. If you’re born to it—the way you were, the way I was, whether or not you want to accept that—you can never shake it. It shapes the way you think, the way you respond to…everything. And those who were a part of unleashing those desires…you never forget them, either. That’s what you did for me, Mick. For me, not to me.”
~Alessandra ‘Allie’ LeClair

She can whip up something sweet…
Allie LeClair has finally returned to the sultry city of New Orleans. After ten years of studying and working as a pastry chef in San Francisco and all over Europe—and feeding her submissive side at BDSM clubs—Allie is home, and she has something to prove to the man who once fueled her desires. She’s not a child anymore.

But with two in the kitchen…
When security specialist Mick Reid hears that Allie is back in town, he knows he won’t be able to stay away for long. Ever since he discovered his darker side, Mick has tried to protect Allie from the aggressive beast within him—but that power and wildness is exactly what she wants.

Can they take the heat?
Allie has made the first move, but now it’s up to Mick. The game has begun, and playing has never been so rough.

EXCERPT

“I can’t believe you set me up like this, Allie,” Mick said, his tone low and smoky. A little threatening. “I didn’t know you had it in you.”

“There’s a lot you don’t know about me, Mick. Partly because I’ve been gone for so long and I’ve been through changes, grown up. And partly because you refuse to see me for who I am. You always have.”

He watched her for several long moments. “You know this is not going to end any differently than it has before,” he said finally, his tone low.

“Meaning you think you haven’t grown or changed in all these years, Mick?”

“Sure I have. But I can’t change history—my history. At the core I’m still who I’ve always been. Oh, I’m not the troublemaker I was in my teens, but I’m not any better for you now than I was when we were in high school, or when we were in college. Not any better for a girl like you than I’ve been this whole time. Some things I can’t do anything about, Allie.”

“That’s a copout. And what do you mean by a girl like me?”

“It’s the simple truth. And you know what I mean.”

“It’s crap, Mick—a story you tell yourself. One you’ve told me too many times. And I don’t agree.”

“Then we’ll have to agree to disagree, unless you want this to stop now.”

She bit her lip. “I still disagree,” she said stubbornly.

“One thing that’s come with the years is that I know exactly who I am, Allie,” he insisted.

“And who’s that?” she asked, really wanting to know with a sudden urgency that made her stomach knot up. “Because maybe it’s about time you told me, since you seem to think I’m so delusional when it comes to you.”

“That’s a pretty big question.”

“Then I’ll expect a big answer.”

He stared at her for several seconds. “At some point you’ll have it, maybe. Maybe.”

“Ah, you want to remain the enigmatic Dominant. A man of mystery.”

He shrugged, his massive shoulders a ripple of muscle beneath his T-shirt. “Maybe I don’t feel like talking about it here.”

“We can go back to your place and talk,” she said, angling her chin.

“Allesandra LeClair, you just flirted with me.”

“Maybe I did.” She blinked, bit her lip.

“You’re doing it again.”

“Am I?”

He laughed. “Your ‘coy’ isn’t very good—you might need some practice, princess.”

Princess.

He hadn’t called her that since high school. A warm shiver went through her.

“Then maybe I’ll practice on you.”

“You’ve developed a bratty side, you know that?”

She nodded, grinning. “I think you like it.”

“And I think it’s nothing throwing you over my knee and spanking the hell out of you won’t cure.”

“Yes, please,” she said quietly.

He stared at her for several moments, his gray eyes going dark. “Touché.”

They sat quietly staring each other down again, but some of the ice had melted.

Allie leaned toward him, her elbows resting on the table. “So, you’ll email me?”

“I will. And I’ll look over your list, shoot you over any questions I have, send you my list. Then, because you and Jamie are crazy and apparently so am I for agreeing to this, we’ll start the real negotiations. Check your email tonight.” He stood, towering over her. “Don’t think because we’re all old friends that I’ll go easy on you, Allie. That’s not who I am.”

“That’s good. Because asking a Dom to go easy on me is not who I am, either.”

“We’ll see about that.” He paused, his gaze raking her face, her upper body, before coming back to meet hers. “Meanwhile, learn to drop the attitude. Don’t make me show you how.”

She nodded without a word. He cracked the edge of a smile, tossed a ten-dollar bill onto the table, turned and headed for the door.

Allie watched him walk out of the café—actually, saunter was more like it—his shoulders so broad, the way his muscles in his back worked beneath the thin cotton T-shirt. His superb ass.

She realized she was trembling all over, just a small shiver beneath the surface of her skin. Mick was one fine-looking man—all sharp angles and rough exterior, with those glossy eyes, his lush mouth made even more enticing by his evil-looking goatee. And his hair—those wild, loose black curls.

She remembered the way his hair felt in her hands . . .

She let out a small groan.

She was turning into a small puddle right there in the café. If she’d been at home, she would have already dug out her toys.

“God . . .” she murmured under her breath, the heat of desire scorching her system, lighting her up with need.

She had to get home. Had to get into bed with every damn toy she owned and try to work a little of Mick out of her body. Not that it would work, of course. But she had to do something until she got the email from him that would tell her what he wanted her to do.

Hell, she simply had to do something.

She dropped another five on the table, grabbed her purse and left, walking out on shaky legs. She wasn’t sure she could wait until she got home to ease the insistent ache between her thighs.

She waved down a cab as soon as she reached the street. She couldn’t wait for the ambling streetcar today—she was in a hurry.

Because if she didn’t get home, get into bed with her vibrator as soon as possible, she was going to explode.

That’s what he did to her. Always had. Probably always would. She had no idea how much more intense, how out of control her desire would be when he was touching her in the way she’d been craving for years. Mick—with his hands rough on her, tying her up, spanking her, paddling her . . . touching her.

She put a hand over her mouth to quiet the moan that escaped.

What had she just gotten herself into? This could be her fondest fantasy come to life. Or it could be that Mick Reid was the one man who was going to push her past her limits, make her—for once—truly lose control.

She was very much afraid of the outcome. She could barely stand the wait before they could begin.

About Eden Bradley

I’ve been reading and writing for as long as I can remember. When I was 3 ½, even though I wasn’t quite clear yet on my alphabet, I decided there were never enough adults around to read to me and demanded to be taught to read myself. My Auntie Mo took the time to teach me. At age eight, I volunteered for summer school so I could take a creative writing class. My friends thought I was crazy; all they wanted to do was climb trees, go roller skating, swim. But I knew even then that what I was doing was even better.

I wrote my first novel at age twelve with a good friend who is also still writing, as far as I know. At a sleepover at her house, instead of sleeping, we stayed up all night crafting a rather horrible romance novel. Hopefully I’ve improved since then, and I now have enough sense to sleep at night and write during the day. Usually.

I didn’t get serious about my writing until the summer of 2000. I went into it writing romance novels, since that was what I thought I could sell, but eventually I returned to what I truly love: writing erotica, and eventually blended erotica and romance in many of my books. It’s been a difficult and wondrous journey, learning about the craft and business of writing, but well worth it. And now, here I am, doing what I love.

Fortunately, someone other than myself loves my work, too. I write for Bantam/Delta, Berkley Heat (as both Eden Bradley and Eve Berlin), HQN and Harlequin Spice, and Samhain Publishing, and I have a few self-published novellas out, as well. Sometimes it’s a struggle, but mostly it’s wonderful and exhilarating. I also love to cook, eat, go to the beach, hang out with friends, shop – especially for shoes – and read everything I can get my hands on. I’m fascinated by art, tattoos, and what goes on inside people’s minds, which is what I love to explore in my books. I’m dying to travel more, and would love to spend a few months at an Italian villa, cruising the Greek islands, or exploring Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, I get to write, and someone actually reads my books, which is a pretty good life!
