“I am disappointed that one of my most anticipated books didn’t live up to any expectations and was one cliche after another!!” ~Under the Covers
This is one of the hardest reviews I’ve had to write this year. I enjoy this series, and I’ve been a fan of Donovan since the beginning. Waiting to hear his story. He’s always been the fun brother and I looked forward to his story almost as much as Rusty!
Then I actually started reading it and the dread set in. I didn’t like the setup of who his heroine was going to be from the beginning. Not that there’s anything wrong with Eve. I’m just tired of reading the same heroine from Maya Banks. Down on her luck, practically homeless, no money, living on scraps and in need of rescuing. I’m starting to feel like they come from a mold.
But I let that go and thought I would give the story a fair chance. And then disaster hit. INSTA-LOVE. Not only is it one of the things I can’t handle, but this book took insta-love to a whole new level. Yes, I mean that the first time Donovan looks at Eve he’s thinking mine and adopting her family and making them all his, and marrying her etc. How about have a conversation and see if you are even interested in each other! My brain couldn’t compute. And pretty much the same goes from Eve with Donovan.
I’ll be honest. I had the hardest time finishing this book, and the only reason I did was because it’s part of a series I want to continue reading and I didn’t want to miss anything important. Otherwise, I would’ve dropped this MANY times.
I am sad to say I did not enjoy anything about Eve and Donovan as a couple. The only reason the rating isn’t lower is because I still love to read about the rest of the Kellys and there were some Rusty and Sean developments in this book. You know it’s not good when the highlight of a book is a kiss between side characters whose whole interaction could be summarized in about 5 pages of the book. But true in this case!
I don’t think there’s much else to say for me at this point. I struggled to finish this book, but I am still excited to continue the series. However, I am disappointed that one of my most anticipated books didn’t live up to any expectations and was one cliche after another!!

I get easily distracted by pictures of sexy guys and have tons of book boyfriends.I keep all my alpha males chained to my basement and guard them fiercely.*Back off bitches*I like to see Jason Momoa as a lot of those boyfriends, because ….. mmmmmmm JASON.MOMOA!
I’m a part time graphic designer (yes, everything you see on UTC has been done by me), run my husband's business from home and on a good day I’m a self appointed superwoman (she who can do it all).I love blogging with my girls and I couldn’t do it any other way!My first love is everything paranormal, but in the past few years I’ve re-learned to love contemporary romance.Every once in a while I like to mix things up with a historical romance, a steampunk or an LGBT book.Because I need variety to avoid book slumps.I don’t always need an HEA although I prefer one, and I love authors that can rip my heart out and make me ugly cry.
