“The chemistry between them as a couple was just perfect!” ~ Under the Covers
Jon was a lifetime resident of Whispering Cove, but one night and one tragic accident sent him running away with a sense of guilt that has plagued him for years. His great-uncle, good ‘ol Errol, has called him back to town under “emergency” circumstances to spend the holidays with him. His only family left. But as we know with the old irish men of Whispering Cove, he had something up his sleeve in the way of matchmaking.
He ends up staying at the bed and breakfast managed by Lila, who had left the big city and her job as a big time chef and traded that for the appeal of a small town life. She wants that kind of lifestyle and that kind of man. Not the fast paced city boy but the deep down small town guy who has that feeling of family and hearth.
I loved Lila’s character because she’s laying it all out there. She’s at a point in her life where she should be going for what she wants, and she has no qualms about expressing it either. She wants to start a life and if the guys she wants isn’t the right one for that, then she’s willing to let that go to find her HEA. I love that she has that focus. Jon on the other hand was not so much my favorite hero just because I sometimes get tired of the “guilt” character. Maybe it would’ve been more interesting had there really been blame other than imaginary. But that’s just me. He was extremely sexy though and definitely the right small town boy in city boy clothing for Lila. The chemistry between them as a couple was just perfect!
Maybe it’s the Christmas spirit in these books, but they are sweeter than the rest of stories I’ve read in this series. However, you can’t help but feel a connection to this town and every time you see the trio of old matchmakers, it puts a smile on my face. Great installment in the series!
