Mind Spill: Past and Present Celebrity Crushes

To poke fun at ourselves, we did a Mind Spill post on our past and present celebrity crushes! Check out that post here.

Monthly Recommendations:

Angela’s recs:

I only have one to recommend for this month, and that is Styxx by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Don’t get me wrong I’ve read some good books the past month but nothing compares to Styxx.  At this time, it is my number one Top Pick for the year. Like I said in my review….there’s just not enough stars to rate this book. Simply AMAZING!!!

Francesca’s recs:

I have a few recommendations for books I’ve read in September.  I’m starting with an older one but that I just had the pleasure of discovering.  SEDUCTION AND SNACKS by Tara Sivec.  I got this whole series on audio based solely on how much Suzanne loved it.  And I laughed right along with every page of this book almost.  This was such an entertaining read I’d recommend it to everyone!  Can’t wait to continue with listening to this series after I catch up on some review listens.

Another audiobook recommendation but really I’d recommend this book all day long to anyone who listens.  LAID BARE by Lauren Dane.  I originally read this series years ago and was so excited to see them finally on audio that I grabbed that and was just as enamored as I was the first time I read it, if not more.  If you haven’t read the Brown Siblings you’re missing out!

This is probably not even worth putting in the recommendations because everyone will want to read it anyway but POSSESSION by J.R. Ward was a great book.  There’s plenty of Jim and Sissy, a dash of Adrian, a total curve-ball when it comes to the war and the overall storyline and quite frankly I fell in love with the hero of this story because he’s so unapologetically alpha and a total asshole.  I love when a man growls!

And last AUTUMN BONES by Jacquelyn Carey.  This is the second book in her Agent of Hel series and I think this is one of my favorite UF series right now.  It’s refreshing to see a world and concept that is so different from everything out there.  It’s serious but not overtly dark, it has humor and sex appeal along with a great storyline and some characters that draw you into the story!  I’ll even forgive the fade to black sex scenes!  Although if the author wanted to share those as extras and deleted scenes I wouldn’t mind reading them 🙂

Suz’s recs:

My Lady Quicksilver by Bec McMaster: Full of action and romance as well as giving vampires a steampunk touch, I loved this book and the series just keeps getting better and better

Jagged by Kristen Ashley: Anything by Kristen Ashley I love, and Jagged was no exception! In fact it started me on a KA reading marathon and I went through the Dream Man series again. She is an addiction I don’t intend to give up (I mean that in a non creepy stalker way).

Castle– Okay, so Castle isn’t actually a book but a TV series starring the sexy Nathan Fillion, who I mentioned was a currently celebrity crush in our Mind Spill this month. If you haven’t watched it you need to get on it, it is funny and has Nathan Fillion in it, what more do you need?

Annie’s recs:

Anything and Everything by Kristen Ashley: I’m obsessed. Completely and crazily obsessed. I read Breathe, Jagged, Law Man and Rock Chick and am moving on with the rest of the Rock Chick series into October. If you haven’t read KA yet, you must! This is crack at its best!

The Temptation of Lila and Ethan by Jessica Sorensen (New Adult): Sorensen takes a different route for Lila in this book. I was very surprised but no less invested in their storyline. There’s some great emotion and sexy times in this one.

Crash into You by Katie Mcgarry (New Adult): The bad boy hero with a black mustang and tatts falls hard for a sweetheart. I devoured this one and loved the racing emphasis!

Ethan in Gold by Amy Lane (M/M Romance): By far my favorite of the series, Ethan’s story is sad, uplifting, hilarious and romantic all at the same time. I read this long into the night and didn’t care how tired I was the next morning. it was worth staying up late and reading!
