“Ms. Martine is just as good with her fantasy novel as she is with this contemporary novel” ~Under the Covers
Ms. Martine is just as good with her fantasy novel as she is with this contemporary novel. Very different from her Elemental series, Ms. Martine tackles a more realistic story line. Long Shot is a story of second chances after years of growing up battling ambition and relationships.
After several years of being apart, Jen and Leith are brought back together by the Highland games in their home town, Gleann. After their break up in high school, this couple will finally get their chance to say their peace, let go of the past and embrace a future they least expected.
Jen and Leith’s story is very sweet. From the beginning of the book, you know that they loved each other and nothing has changed despite the years they had apart. I love that they both easily accepted what they have become and it made it easy for me to love them as well. Of course it wasn’t hard to love Leith. Heck, the whole town loved and adored him. He was sweet, sexy and he knew exactly what he wanted. I loved that he gets Jen and accepted her…ambitions and all. Jen on the other hand was not my fave. Though she was kind hearted, I thought her ambitions blinded her. I’m not saying Leith was perfect, far from it. But he had no pretenses. He is what he is and he knew exactly what he wanted. They did have to battle personal demons from the past and revealing them to each other was probably the key to the rekindling of their love. Though Jen made some decisions that I didn’t quite agree with, she did win my heart at the end.
Long Shot is light read that I highly enjoyed. I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys Jessica Clare, Jennifer Probst, and Victoria Dahl.

I coblog and review here at Under the Covers and occasionally review for Hot Listens.I love to read PNR, UF, Contemporary, New Adult, and Romantic Suspense. Occasionally, I will venture to Erotica, BDSM reads and rarely Historical Romance. There are some sub-genres that I don’t always enjoy, but I’m open to stepping out of my comfort zone. For the most part, as long as there’s a hint of romance, I’m pretty much in.
