“…it’s never too little for a fan dying for her next fix.” ~ Under the Covers

THE BENSON is a quick story about Dex and Perry shortly after the crazy events of RED FOX.  Their relationship is a bit on shaky ground because feelings were stirred that have now gone back into hiding.

Dex brings Perry to Portland to film at the famously haunted Benson Hotel in Portland.  Management thinks they won’t find anything, as many others have, so they are ok with letting them run around the hotel looking to be spooked.

Of course, Dex has wonderful ideas as usual that involve getting our beloved Perry into binds.  And this time, face to face with a ghost!  Who knew they would be able to solve UNSOLVED MYSTERIES!

Although THE BENSON is a short read it’s always entertaining to read about Dex and Perry, their ghost hunting abilities and mishaps and their relationships ups and downs.  Even though we really don’t see any ups or downs there in this story.  But it’s never too little for a fan dying for her next fix.

I can’t wait to read more about Dex and Perry who have completely captured my attention.

Favorite Quotes:

But I can’t help the way I feel.  Stupid.  And in love with my partner.

Dex’s eyes are his focal point, the part of him that wins people over or drives them away.  Dark chocolate, enigmatic and emotive.  Sometimes they are ruthless, sometimes seductive.  They are a mystery as much as he is and the one thing I can’t help from drowning in over and over again.

He smiles again and reaches over with his hand to pat me softly on the head.  “Because I’ve got you, kiddo.  You’re my little ghost bait.”

“Perry is far too good for me and I am forced to make do with my Wine Babe girlfriend.”

It’s too bad our looking good comes at the cost of me nearly peeing my pants ever time.

About Karina Halle

The daughter of a Norwegian Viking and a Finnish Moomin, Karina Halle grew up in Vancouver, Canada with trolls and eternal darkness on the brain. This soon turned into a love of all things that go bump in the night and a rather sadistic appreciation for freaking people out. Like many of the flawed characters she writes, Karina never knew where to find herself and has dabbled in acting, make-up artistry, film production, screenwriting, photography, travel writing and music journalism. She eventually found herself in the pages of the very novels she wrote (if only she had looked there to begin with).

Karina holds a screenwriting degree from Vancouver Film School and a Bachelor of Journalism from TRU. Her travel writing, music reviews/interviews and photography has appeared in publications such as Consequence of Sound, Mxdwn and GoNomad Travel Guides. She currently splits her time between her apartment in downtown Vancouver and her sailboat, where a book and a bottle of wine are always at hand.
