Hi Sherrilyn, thanks so much for taking the time of answering some questions for you. We are so excited to have you here and that you are our Author of the Month!
Thanks so much for selecting me. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the honor!
Styxx has been a character that readers have loved to hate. How do you hope to redeem him in his own book?
There’s nothing to redeem. He was a hero all along. If you read between the lines of Acheron and Night Embrace, it’s obvious there’s a lot unknown about Styxx. Just like with Valerius and Zarek, things are not what they seem on the surface. Or as the old adage goes, don’t judge someone until you’ve walked a mile in their moccasins.
A great deal of your books are so rich in history. How much research do you do for a book and as the series goes on, have you found it easier to create a story with so much historical accuracy and detail?
I was a history major and taught it for quite a few years. I’ve been enamored with ancient civilizations my entire life. While I don’t know all history, I usually write the periods I know best.
We fans all have our favourite Dark Hunter, do you? Is there one character you think you think of more fondly than the others?
That’s like asking me to choose a favorite child. I love them all equally and they all drive me nuts from time to time.
With all the history floating around, how easy was it to write Styxx’s book?
It was no easier or harder than writing any book. Each one has its own challenges.
Styxx is the 23rd book in your Dark Hunter series, do you have an end in mind for the series?
I know how it all ends, I just don’t want to write that book for a very long time to come.
We are also massive fans of your League series at Under the Covers, so can you tell us how Born of Fury is coming along? Can we expect great things from Hauk?
Hauk is always a surprise. I love my crabby Andarion and snarky Phrixian. But I can’t say more without handing out spoilers.
What is your favourite thing about being an author, what is your least favourite?
Working in my pajamas and getting caught working in my pajamas in the afternoon. Hard to explain to the UPS driver that I really do pull twenty hour days, and that I’m not really sleeping late.
If you had to choose a species of Paranormal hunk, which would you chose and why?
Not exactly sure what you mean. As all my different series show, I’m a fickle wench and like to flit from one to another.
We know the rights have been purchased to bring the Dark Hunters to Hollywood. Is this still in the works?
It is, indeed. We have the script and should begin filming in a few months. Chronicles of Nick is first and then DH will follow.
What’s next for Sherrilyn Kenyon?
Always a new book to write and new characters to discover. After Hauk, I’ll be working on the next DH book, Son of No One which has a very special “surprise” hero. And the heroine is a cousin to Selena, Amanda and Tabitha.
Thanks so much for sharing with us and our readers!
Just when you thought doomsday was over…
Centuries ago Acheron saved the human race by imprisoning an ancient evil bent on absolute destruction. Now that evil has been unleashed and it is out for revenge.
As the twin to Acheron, Styxx hasn’t always been on his brother’s side. They’ve spent more centuries going at each other’s throats than protecting their backs. Now Styxx has a chance to prove his loyalty to his brother, but only if he’s willing to trade his life and future for Acheron’s.
The Atlantean goddess of Wrath and Misery, Bethany was born to right wrongs. But it was never a task she relished. Until now. She owes Acheron a debt that she vows to repay, no matter what it takes. He will join their fellow gods in hell and nothing is going to stop her.
But things are never what they seem, and Acheron is no longer the last of his line. Styxx and Acheron must put aside their past and learn to trust each other or more will suffer.
Yet it’s hard to risk your own life for someone who once tried to take yours, even when it’s your own twin, and when loyalties are skewed and no one can be trusted, not even yourself, how do you find a way back from the darkness that wants to consume the entire world? One that wants to start by devouring your very soul?
