Thanks so much to Under The Covers Book Blog today for having me here to celebrate the release of DIRTY DISTRACTIONS, the first book in my Afternoon Delight series with Samhain Publishing. Get ready to talk about younger men who are good with their hands—and for a chance to win stuff!
First up, here’s Dirty Distractions’ blurb:
Zoologist Sara Carmichael’s active social life is the envy of all her friends, but she has a secret. She’s bored senseless. If she has to go to one more bird sanctuary fundraiser with some guy who thinks his little sports car makes him “hip,” she’ll scream.
Enter Brad O’Halloran, her best friend Kim’s much younger brother. A guy who’s picking up the pieces after a quickie marriage and even quicker divorce. A guy so hot he makes her body scream with frustration.
Until Sara’s apartment is renovated, they’re all living at Kim’s place. Despite her determination to not to salivate at glimpses of Brad’s finer-than-fine body in nothing but a low-slung towel, flirtation escalates to the brink of something more.
Now one of them has to back down…or ante up for some good, dirty fun with the unspoken understanding that when the time comes, they’ll make a clean break. Neither anticipated they’d make the most complicated connection of all—love.
Warning: This book contains a hero who knows how to make engines— and women—purr, seduction while on cold meds, and a heroine who might be a little older but still enjoys learning a few naughty new tricks
I figured it would be fun to share some smexy scenes from the book, just to give you a little taste of what you’re in for if you give it a read!
This scene happens early on. Poor Sara caught the flu, but no worries, Brad is ready and willing to take care of her…in more ways than one.
“Mmm-hmm. You look kind of weak. Want me to feed your apple to you?”
Sara laughed, though her laughter soon turned into a pitiful cough. “How can you feed me an apple?” she asked, her voice scratchier—and sexier—than normal.
“Allow me to demonstrate.” Without reaching for her apple, Brad leaned in and lifted his to her mouth, raising his brows when she shot him a questioning glance. “Now you take a bite.”
“I have germs.”
“I love Sara germs,” he said, nudging her chin with the apple.
Shaking her head, she grinned. “Fine. Don’t cry to me when you get sick too.” She took a quick bite and drew back, lapping up the droplets of juice that slipped over her full lips.
“Dammit, I can barely taste it.”
“You didn’t get enough.” He bit in and turned his head, lowering his face to hers. Her eyes widened. “Open up,” he murmured, slanting his mouth over hers before she had time to argue.
Her lips parted, and he tasted a hint of cherry cough syrup before their tongues tangled in the briefest, hottest kiss of his life. She accepted the apple and swallowed, her tongue retreating from his too fast. He chased after it, licking the inside of her mouth with tender strokes designed to cause her to relax. Again her tongue slid against his, almost as if she were collecting the last of the juice. Then she pushed him away, gently but firmly.
“I’m sick,” she reminded him, her warm breath puffing against his cheek.
“So you keep reminding me.” He returned to his apple, hiding his smile at the sound of her forced breathing. Unaffected? Not hardly. “Want more?”
“Of the apple or you?”
Now for a little dirty with your distractions…and Brad certainly qualifies. He definitely delivers on any dirty promise he makes—verbal or physical.
Sara replaced her finger with her warm, tender mouth. “Now fuck me like you mean it, O’Halloran.”
He wouldn’t make her ask twice.
Brad pressed her thighs wide apart, his gaze riveted on the show between her legs. Her swollen lower lips spread at his surge into the sweet spot that took him so readily. Her gently curved belly undulated at his strokes. The bubbles obscured way more of the action than he liked, but he drew her up over him, powering into her again and again.
Taking, and giving, and taking more.
Her mouth opened on a silent moan, her pale brown eyes warming to the color of molasses. “You’re so beautiful,” he whispered, drunk on her. She was his champagne, the very blood that beat in his veins. He could feel her inside his skin, as if she were entering him rather than the other way around.
Not only is DIRTY DISTRACTIONS erotic, it’s funny too – at least I hope so! Anyone up for a dirty talking conure? Yep, even the birds in this book are out for a little sumthin’ sumthin’!
“Come in, come in hard!”
“Oh, God,” Sara muttered, pressing her fingers to the dull throb in her forehead. Great. Her bird had witnessed her night of debauchery, and apparently they hadn’t been nearly as quiet as they’d hoped.
It was all Brad’s fault. What that guy could do with his hips should be illegal. And his stamina… He took go all night to new levels.
