RAMBLINGS FROM RT – PART II
Seeing authors I adore is one RT highlight I will never forget. I was like a kid in a candy store, except, I didn’t want to eat them, I just wanted to take pictures with them. =D However, as much as I loved stalking for pictures, it was meeting Fran (whom I’ve been good friends with since 2011) that mattered the most. It made our on-line friendship even more real than it already is. And to add cherry on top, I gained a new close friend, Leigh.
Angela, Under the Covers
Seeing friends and meeting readers is always a treat. This year, my highlights were the BDSM workshop with the super Lexi Blake, as well as the very knowledgeable Reggie Alexander and Kasi Alexander. Then I wrapped up the conference by sharing a panel with amazing pals Sylvia Day and Lora Leigh. I’m looking forward New Orleans next year!
Well, yet another RT down in history, and right now I’m down and out from exhaustion. But, don’t worry ladies, I’ll be rested for 2014 in New Orleans. For now, though, I’d like to bring forward a few of the highlights from this years event in KC.
I had the most pleasurable time seeing old friends again, and making new ones as well as taking photos with all my lovely ladies that I call friends. ALL the girls from Under the Covers, Book Obsessed Chicks book club, Cherry Adair, Jade Lee, Nikki Duncan, Cassandra Carr, and the always lovely Angela Knight. All these women have become great friends that are actually interested in me, not just the photos I take or shoots I do.
I do have to say though that getting on prime TV with an interview is great. Had the same thing happen last year at Chicago, and now this year in KC they actually interviewed me, AND showed my Club RT table. Most excellent promotional spot.
But, the biggest highlight of RT13 in Kansas City, is on Tuesday morning, while getting settled into my room, I got an email from the owners of Horny Devil Publishing that I was chosen to be the “face” of their publishing company. EXTREMELY honored and excited doesn’t even begin to explain it. Photoshoots with them, promotionals, advertising etc. I plan to work very hard for them.
Scott Nova, Cover Model
One highlight was when Lara Adrian knew who I was at the book signing and invited me out for dinner and drinks. I could barely keep my inner fangirl from exploding. Another highlight was co-hosting Cinema Craptastique with Damon Suede. He’s one of my favorite people and so much fun to be with. Life is fun around Damon.
A. I loved walking around the corner and seeing what costume Leigh and Francesca were going to wear next!
B. I loved being on the panels and seeing all the new, friendly faces in the Broken Heroes panel on Friday.
C. I loved that Jessie Potts the book taster won a basket at the DSP event, since she’d been such charming company over the week.
D. I loved meeting Kat “The Book Tart” and seeing that her Kermit Flail really WAS the cutest thing ever.
E. I loved grabbing a fan–who was supposed to meet me for coffee– and saying, “The Over the Rainbow event is starting– here, come with me!” and she got to walk away with lots of free books after meeting not just some of her favorite authors but also a bunch of fans of the same authors, when she’d felt like she was the only one in the world who could ever love the books she did.
My highlight of RT is always speaking to fans! RT is a celebration of romance and writing and community and nothing reinforces that for me like chatting with fans.
Had a blast meeting readers at my second RT convention. Getting mobbed while setting up my swag table was, well, let’s just say those kinds of things go straight to an author’s head. Please keep doing it! I also got to meet readers at Thursday’s Expo who have been online friends for a long time. While I probably will focus on other cons in the future (I’m trying to get to different parts of the country to connect with readers), I’m so glad I went to Kansas City, where I also had a chance to meet some amazing authors and significant others who are very special to me.
And there’s still more to come!
