My feelings on the book just seemed to be up in the air…I didn’t hate it, but I also didn’t love it either. ~ Under the Covers
I’ll be straight with you: BLUSH was just a mediocre read for me. I didn’t hate it, but I also didn’t love it either and thus, this is probably the hardest review to write.
While I liked the premise of the book, I don’t think I could really grasp the chemistry between Madeline and Alex from the very beginning. I always felt one step behind the author. Things just didn’t fall into place or click for me.
I think the main reason was because there didn’t seem to be a driving force to pull the story forward. It seemed to float around here and there and I kind of got lost in it. Their initial meeting seemed to move too quickly and for someone who is trying to get over her tragic past like Madeline is, things seemed to move a little too quickly to be believable.
However, I did enjoy the author’s writing style. Jameson’s writing is free-flowing, which makes for an easy read however, midway through the book the story felt convoluted with excess information that didn’t seem essential to the overall story.
As a result, my feelings on the book just seemed to be up in the air. At this point, I’m not sure I will be checking out this author’s work again, unless the premise sounds interesting to me or there are great reviews.
