Author Override: Kat Bastion

Author Override is the place where authors take the reins and take you on a journey into their world. Some may allow you into their private writing dens. Others may take you along with them on research trips or interviews. Whatever the case may be, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride because here you’ll get an in-depth look into an author’s musings.

Today we have a good friend and lovely author named Kat Bastion today. When she asked me if I wanted to help spread the word about one of her latest releases, I jumped at the chance. Kat is an amazing writer, but here’s a little more behind her latest project, Utterly Loved. You can see for yourself how great this project is!

The Story Of Utterly Loved…

What happens when a paranormal romance writer, who’d been on a soul-searching journey for about a year, suddenly gets struck by the lightning of poetry?

{smiles} Some stories you can’t write better than reality.

The electric bolt? Sylvain Reynard including Robert Frosts’s poem Fire and Ice in a blog post… exactly eleven weeks ago.

Unaware a profound change had happened within me, a few days later, lost in a perfect moment of bliss, my first poem flowed into my head entitled Heaven…Found.

Within a week, an unexpected poetic flow happened again. I posted The Fall as my second piece of poetry on my blog,

Overwhelming response to those two poems led to playful celestial-themed banter on Twitter with two poet friends.  When I said, “Blame It On The Moon” … inspiration struck for my third poem.

Then came my first “aha” moment. All three poems were memories I’d had with Mr. Bastion. Our twentieth anniversary was approaching.  I decided I could probably write twenty poems documenting memories or things we loved and surprise him with a private collection as a gift.

A few weeks later, epiphany hit.  Happy, romantic me had been seeking for a way to help others, but hadn’t yet found my path.  The way brightly lit up before me like an airport landing strip.

I had been blessed both with the deep love of another and suddenly gifted with the ability to effortlessly write poetry from the heart.  It occurred to me that there are lost souls in this world who may never have the chance to know love.

I wanted to help them feel… Utterly Loved.

The poems kept coming, three or so a week. One early morning, I actually wrote three poems from 5am to 6:30am.  It was as if the poems were downloaded to my brain from my heart, my thumbs on my iPhone taking furious notes.

I finally told my husband as I finished the last poems of the collection.  Without hesitation, he agreed with my idea. The entire project was to give love to those who desperately needed it, and he completely supported my strong feeling that no dollar would line our pockets from the endeavor.

Eleven weeks ago from today.

Twenty-One original poems.

Twenty-three original inspirational quotes.

One cause … Utterly Loved.

Last week, I posted on my blog an additional poem inspired about the fight I feel with regard to the cause, Power As One.

Please join me in the journey.  Utterly Loved will release the first week of December.  Tomorrow is a Cover Reveal.  Next week is an exciting Foreword Author Reveal.  Guest posts, excerpts, conversations, and ARC reviews all lead into release week.

Show how much you care about making others feel Utterly Loved.  Mark your calendars to buy a book… or a few.  Christmas is the season of giving, after all.

Tell two friends about Utterly Loved.  Tell twenty.

How much of a difference can one person make?

From where I’m standing… A world of it.
