Author Override is the place where authors take the reins and take you on a journey into their world. Some may allow you into their private writing dens. Others may take you along with them on research trips or interviews. Whatever the case may be, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride because here you’ll get an in-depth look into an author’s musings.
Maidens! We are extremely excited to have here with us our good friend Erika, or I should say now ER Pierce. Well, I’ll just let her explain 😉
All right everyone, since I started a confessional series on my blog, I’ve decided to come clean in a big way. Well, big for me. * laughs *
The topic for my guest post today is how I went from a book reviewer to an Author. I know, you’re thinking…huh? But it’s true. I’ve been writing all my life in some way, and almost two years ago I started a book blog to keep track of what I read, and maybe get my thoughts out into internet land. So, some of you may know me as Erika Badass, of Badass Book Reviews.
Now you know me as ER Pierce.
I’m sitting here waiting for the pitch forks and gasps. Oh my goodness it’s HER. The snarky one! Quick, tell everyone you know. She’s here! Get her!
It’s true. I’m snarky and honest, probably to a fault. I’ve learned over the past year though, to take my snarkyness and use it constructively. At least I hope so. Since I started writing full time, I’ve turned Badass Book Reviews over to a few awesome bloggers – Regina, Michelle and Ayelet. (Regina, Michelle the book stalker, and AH from Goodreads) They rock, and are doing a fantastic job. So, go say hello to them.
I have not been reviewing books. Lately, I find I just don’t have time to read as much as I used to. I mean, I haven’t even read the latest IN DEATH novel. Annie – I haven’t read Roarke! Blasphemy, I know. Hmm, maybe I’ll take a break from writing and go get me a Roarke fix. Yep.
I’m digressing. Going from reviewer to author has made me keenly aware of how a few of my reviews may have rubbed authors the wrong way. For that, I wholeheartedly apologize. But, you know what they say about hindsight. * sigh * As I delve further into my writing career, I now realize how hard it is to write a book, and I have a new found appreciation for the blood, sweat, and tears a writer goes through. There are days were agony runs through my veins.
So, here’s the deal. I’m cool with all reviews of my books. I promise (in writing!) to never spout off to a reviewer who hates my book, and celebrates their hate with tons of GIF pictures and ranting raves. It’s cool. You know why? I actually find those reviews entertaining and interesting. Yea, I won’t lie, it will probably sting, but most likely I’ll laugh my ass off. So, bring on the reviews. Good, bad, funny, ugly, ranting or simple. I’ll love them all, and learn from them all. That is another lesson I learned going from reviewer to author. I feel like I can look at reviews objectively, and realize in my heart it’s not * Me * they have an issue with – sort of. I find it to be a freeing concept.
I still get nervous though, when I see someone is reading one of my books. That’s normal. Obviously, I want everyone to love my characters, or identify with my work, but I understand that my humor, my voice, or my characters are not for everyone.
Fractured Moon is my first full length novel (about 275 pages), and my debut. I know the story is interesting and unique. But I also know it isn’t without its own issues. I’m writing better with every novel – well, at least I hope I am.
I’m proud to say I’ve made a lot of friends in the book blogging world, and now as an Author, I’ve met so many awesome and interesting people. Writers are an odd bunch, and I think I’ve finally found my place in the world. A place where my brand of crazy is celebrated.
So, thank you.
Now for the Author hat. I have two books available. Fractured Moon (Paranormal Erotic Romance) and Finding Time, which is a monogamous erotic contemporary novella. (Whew, that is a mouthful :grins:)
I’m in the middle of an awesome Work In Progress with the amazing Benjamin T Russell, author of Booty Call (co-written with Michelle Chatton) He has a silver tongue, and boy, does he know how to use it. Please check out their novella, it’s a hot M/M/F menage.
I’m writing the next two novella’s in the Steel Series, and the next novella in my erotic marriage series.
Thanks for having me ladies! I appreciate the time Francesca, Annie, Suz and Angela.
Runs, and ducks for cover now that my secret identity is out of the proverbial bag 🙂
Fractured Moon Blurb
Aurelia Fridell will always be a freak. Born to werewolf parents, her twin brother Ville can shift forms, but she can’t. Twenty-five years searching for answers yields nothing.
As her thirtieth birthday approaches, isolation creeps in, and worry settles in her gut. She accepted her existence long ago, and yet lately, she’s felt off-kilter. Eyes follow her, prickling her senses. Her headaches are getting worse.
Is she paranoid, or is there really someone, or something, stalking her? Watching. Waiting. Drumming fingers to a sinister beat she can’t hear.
Time will tell.
Ceithin Starkley isn’t looking for a mate. Especially now. In fact, he doesn’t believe in true-matings at all. While he is being recruited for a new job, a scent on the wind stuns him, and he finds himself fighting an inner battle he never wanted, yet can’t ignore.
Sparks fly, as Ceithin and Aurelia fight fate and race against a clock neither knows is ticking.
Will he claim Aurelia before he loses her for good?
Warning: This book is sexy. Contains a drool-worthy Alpha male wearing Beta clothing. A sassy and sweet heroine with brains and brothers you’ll adore. A best friend every girl would love to hate. I mean have. And an impossible road no one will see coming.
Buy Links: for Fractured Moon if you are so inclined.

Oh Wow, this is such a cool blog site, I need to stop by here for a visit more often. This is my kind of place with delicious goodies all over the walls. E.R., FYI – there is a mob of authors standing outside and they don’t look happy. I never knew pitch-forks came in so many decorative styles. I think some of these are BDSM authors who want to “meet” you. Perhaps you can slip out the back door. Well, since I’m here, thanks much for the shout out – I do appreciate it. Honestly, I think reviewers get a… Read more »
So excited that you’re the Author Override feature Erika ♥ As a reviewer, we should never be ashamed or feel guilty about the honest opinion we have about a book/story. Now, if they go into the territory of author bashing or just plain disrespect to them, that’s a different story. I’ve never noticed that in your reviews though – only honesty about what worked & didn’t work about the book. I don’t know any authors who could fault you for that 🙂 I am so proud of you and everytime I see your work spotlighted & featured, I just want… Read more »

Wow, I think it is amazing that you started as a reviewer and are now a published author. I have tons of ideas but just can’t get them on paper in a reasonable form. The book sounds really interesting.
It sounds like you have had a great journey so far! Congrats on your book. I love the blurb. I am adding it to my TBR! Thank you for the chance to read it. 🙂
Wow I learn something new about you everyday ER. I love reviewers, without them how would we know if we are doing well? I take the good and enjoy it…take the bad and learn from it. Thank you for mentioning me. Yes, Sherry M. Palmer is my real name and I am Michelle Chatton. Beware of Mr. Benjamin’s silver tongue, it could be classified as a dangerous weapon. 😉
I Hope you enjoy Fractured Moon and/or Finding Tim — Heather and Timitra 🙂 thanks for reading my guest post!

Thanks Savannah and Benji.
Hugs back! I’m riddled with flaws and insecurities.
*looks left and right* while I take a step and creak open the door, slipping out into the night…
I loved Fractured Moon — I am bad and still need to write my review, but it rocked me. But I absolutely am excited about #2 in the Steel series.
Great guest blog post Erika! Thanks for inviting me to blog at Bad Ass, I am loving the experience.
