The chic Manhattan nightspot Du Vin is not the kind of place Eve Dallas would usually patronize, and it’s not the kind of bar where a lot of blood gets spilled. But that’s exactly what happens one cold February evening.

The mortally wounded woman is Larinda Mars, a self-described “social information reporter,” or as most people would call it, a professional gossip. As it turns out, she was keeping the most shocking stories quiet, for profitable use in her side business as a blackmailer. Setting her sights on rich, prominent marks, she’d find out what they most wanted to keep hidden and then bleed them dry. Now someone’s done the same to her, literally—with a knife to the brachial artery.

Eve didn’t like Larinda Mars. But she likes murder even less. To find justice for this victim, she’ll have to plunge into the dirty little secrets of all the people Larinda Mars victimized herself. But along the way, she may be exposed to some information she really didn’t want to know…

About J.D. Robb

With a phenomenal career full of bestsellers, Nora Roberts was ready for a new writing challenge. As her agent put it, like Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, and caffeine-free Pepsi, a pseudonym offered her the opportunity to reach a new and different group of readers. The first futuristic suspense J. D. Robb book, Naked in Death, was published in paperback in 1995, and readers were immediately drawn to Eve Dallas, a tough cop with a dark past, and her even more mysterious love interest, Roarke.

The series quickly gained attention, great reviews, and devoted readers. Since the debut of Loyalty in Death (the ninth In Death book) on Halloween 1999 on the New York Times bestseller list, every J. D. Robb title has been a New York Times bestseller. While fans had their suspicions, it wasn’t until the twelfth book in the series, Betrayal in Death (2001), that the publisher fully revealed that J. D. Robb was a pseudonym for bestselling powerhouse Nora Roberts. Unmasked, Nora Roberts fans who hadn’t yet picked up one of the Robb books were quickly playing catch-up.

Robb’s peers in the mystery world are fans as well, with accolades for the In Death series from such blockbuster authors as Stephen King, Jonathan Kellerman, Dennis Lehane, Kathy Reichs, Lisa Scottoline, Janet Evanovich, David Baldacci, Harlan Coben, Robert B. Parker, Ridley Pearson, Linda Fairstein, and Andrew Gross.

The In Death books are perpetual bestsellers, and frequently share the bestseller list with other Nora Roberts novels. J. D. Robb publishes two hardcover In Death books per year, with the occasional stand-alone original In Death story featured in an anthology.

Thirty books and fifteen years later, there is no end in sight for the ever-popular In Death series.

Blogger/Reviewer at Under the Covers Book Blog
I’m a 26 year old obsessive makeup junkie and a compulsive reader. I like to call Under the Covers Book Blog my stomping ground, but when I’m not talking about books with my girls, I’m also a reviewer for FreshFiction.com. Over there, I’m also a columnist. I have a column called Into the Night that discusses the latest and greatest news in the Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy genre. I also work as a virtual assistant for authors.

When it comes to books I’m pretty adventurous. I read everything from Paranormal Romance to Urban Fantasy, to New Adult, BDSM, LGBT fiction and even YA. If it’s got the littlest trace of romance in it, I’ll probably read it. That being said, my all-time favorite authors are J.R. Ward and Karen Marie Moning.

When I’m not submerged in a good book, you can find me musing about makeup and fashion or dreaming about boys and beaches. My love for all things David Gandy is well documented on the Internet and we’ll be getting married shortly. I’ll be sure to send you an invite to the wedding! ;P Until then, check out my reviews and let’s talk books!

  1. This is the ONLY series that I follow that I actually read within days of it’s release. There are so many I follow and get the new books in the series and then they languish on my shelves getting dusty waiting on me. In Death waits for no one! I make sure before I crack the cover that I am free and can stay up all night reading cause I never go to bed till it’s done.

I love this series – getting this new one next week & will continue re-reading from the beginning!

This is another series on my “bucket list” TBR mountain. The author is quite prolific, writing under two names, and releasing at least 2 books per year in this series alone! Incredible. I’d heard this is book 45 in the series? Maybe that includes the anthologies mentioned? I figure if I can read 1 book a month from the series, I’ll be current in about 3 years, as more books will be released as I go. I hope to start the In Death series soon, and also check out a Nora Roberts book, which I haven’t done yet either. 😳 Like I said, my TBR pile is a mountain! Thanks for the chance to start reading the first book for free; a great motivator to bump up the series on my TBR list. 😁

I adore this series ! Eve and Rourk are one of my all time favorite couples ! The series is amazing…the secondary characters are just as loved as the murder mysteries. Im on book 39 and i/m to the point im reading them slower, cause i dont want to wait for the next release. I cant say enough about this series.

  5. I’m participating in the In Death series read in the J.D. Robb group on Goodreads. Having a blast with Eve, Roarke, Peabody and the team. Long way to go till book 45 though!
    Thanks for the giveaway!

I too love this series but I am only at book 17. I think I’m going to try and read at least one a month next year and slowly get caught up!

I love the In Death series! I’m a little bit behind right now, but I’m looking forward to more Eve and Roarke.
