Welcome back to Under the Covers, Lisa! We’re so excited about the next Dirty Money series release called Bad Deeds. For readers new to the series, can you explain what the series is about?
Thank you so much for having me and thank you for the excitement about BAD DEEDS! My Dirty Money series is a romantic suspense saga really. There’s multiple plots. One being the vie for control between two brothers, Shane (our hero) and Derek, as they fight over who will rule the family Empire. Shane’s family tried their hardest to drag him into the world of corruption and there’s only one thing saving him from falling into play. Which brings us to the second storyline, our heroine, Emily. She’s what centers Shane’s world. He wasn’t expecting her, but now that she’s in his life, even with all her secrets, she shows him the good, and of course the incredibly sexy and seductiveness life has to offer. So as you follow Shane and Emily through their relationship, you’re left wondering about her secrets, and how Shane will come out of this hell he’s about to enter with his family.
How would you describe Shane? What is his greatest strength? What is his weakness?
Very alpha. Very dedicated to those he loves. His greatest strength is his protective nature. His greatest weakness is Emily or his family (depending on the day).
What was the most fun scene to write in this book, without being spoilery?
There’s the really cute scene with Shane and Emily. They’re always surrounded by such intensity, that I loved being able to give them a happy moment with almost no worries. It really brought out parts of their personalities I hadn’t even seen yet.
If you attended a party with the Brandon family, how would you introduce them to others?
Hmmm I’m assuming the corrupt, screwed up Brandon family (with the exception of Shane, he’s not corrupt!) of Brandon Enterprises, won’t work 🙂 So something along the lines of the traditional and stuffy introduction: David and Maggie Brandon and their sons, Derek and Shane Brandon of THE Brandon Enterprises.
The previous books in the series have been page-turners. What is your trick to executing the perfect plot twist?
Thank you so much for that compliment! And this book might have one of the bigger plot twists/endings I’ve ever written. But in my mind when I’m writing I always have key moments I need to get to and those are usually the twists and turns. More often than not, it does change from what I first imagined it to be executed as, but the general idea is still the same. But I map out those big plot twists ahead of time for myself as markers in the story. Oh and I also try my best to lure my readers into a false sense of comfort before I flip everything upside down. Cruel, I know, but the unsuspecting moments are always the best.
What does a typical day in your life look like?
Wake up, do a little social media posting, shower, write, write, write some more, go for a run or walk with hubs, then write until I go to sleep. Wake up and repeat.
Tell us five things you are currently loving (can be anything, not necessarily book related).
1. White Mocha (always)
2. Billions (TV show on HBO)
3. Sphynx cat videos (SO cute!)
4. The weather in Colorado (60s and 70s!)
5. And SLEEP! Well I would love to be loving it right now, I’m on deadline so it’s a little elusive at the moment!
Do you have a go-to summer reading author?
With my hectic schedule, I hardly have time to read right now, but I do try to listen to a few audiobooks when I’m walking. But I really just read/listen to what I’m in the mood for and what I can squeeze in on my walks.
What are you working on next?
My Murder Girl/Lilah Love series! I was finally able to announce that I have a new straight suspense series coming in the first part of next year with Montlake (Amazon). It’s about a badass FBI Profiler who’s very blunt with a penchant for the F word. She is so much fun to write, and currently I’m hard at work on book 2. As far as releases, I’ve got two standalone romances coming out later this year. Both are books in my Tall, Dark & Deadly/Walker Security series, and they’ll be releases in October and December.

Would you bleed for the one you love?
To save his family empire from the grip of the drug cartel, Shane is pushed to the edge of darkness, forced to make choices he might never make. His father is dying. His brother is desperate to rule the empire and this means war and all gloves are off. His brother only thought he knew what dirty meant. Shane is about to give it new meaning. There is another war brewing though, and that one, is inside him, his battle between right and wrong, light and dark, and in the heat of the night, it is Emily he turns to for escape. Driving her to new limits, pushing her to accept a part of him that even he cannot.
In every one of Shane's seductive demands, Emily can taste and feel, his torment, his struggle to save his family and not lose himself. But he is losing himself, and that is a problem just as dangerous as her secret, that still lurk in the shadows, a threat to the Brandon Family waiting to erupt. No matter where she and Shane have traveled, or will travel in the future, she can't just sit back and watch him become everything he hates, everything he never wanted to become, everything she tried to save him from when she tried to run. It could be their undoing, the end. His end.
This is war, blood will spill, and someone in the heart of the Brandon family will not survive....
